The Legend of Six Swords
By Akuma Reiten
The time known as, the rise of man, was a time of great change for many, a time to delve into new arts and achieve greatness only known by the elves.
However, there was one man that did not agree with humanities ascension to magic. His name was Rustam Gareth.
Rustam was in fact one of the few lucky humans to be born with magical talent, and it is whispered that he could have become a great arch mage in his own right but he abandoned his quest for magic at an early age for reasons known only to a few.
For many years no one heard of Rustam again, not until the War of the Lighting Houses. The war involved the long-term tension between Springwell Junction and Mineral Hills which eventually turned into open warfare. Two large and powerful parties of men marched against one another, promising great bloodshed. However, when the two parties met, all that stood between them was the mighty bridge of thunder. Perhaps the only monument the two cities built together to cross a 200 foot cliff over water, landscaping that is so common in this evolving world.
As the parties approached, a single man was standing in the center of the monument bridge. Once both sides reached either end of bridge the man called out,
"My name is Rustam! These Six blades are my brothers and sisters! This fight of yours is pointless! You have let your once great bond become corrupted! So we have come to cut it!"
It's said his voice resounded like thunder itself, and before either side could decide what to do Rustam drew one of his blades.
"Slice it! Atropos!"
With a single swipe of his blade the mammoth bridge exploded, a mighty cut down it's center sending giant chunks of rock flying down into river below.
The Legend of Six Swords had begun.
Rustam taught his six students that a human heart is made out of six pieces, and that everyone’s six pieces are slightly different. Rustam's premise was that his heart was made up of Pride, Compassion, Mercy, Rage, Peace and Vengeance. He said that whenever we forge a blade, a piece of our heart goes into it, no matter how small. This piece of heart gives the sword its own sort of life. Understanding a swords heart is unlocking its true potential.
