Most characters would not have any idea what arcane knowledge is. Therefore, this material is intended to be used by Mages and those that study Arcane Arts. This gives players the ability to role-play high magic in a somewhat consistent fashion.

 

Planes of existence are alternate dimensions spanning across time and space. The Material Plane is the physical world where most of the Dawn of Time campaign takes place. The different planes of existence are the source of all magic and they are the very essence of all arcane powers. The Gods and advanced Mages walk these planes as they send down their blessings to the world.

 

Planar Parallelism

In some cases, the alternate dimensions can be parallel to one another like the Ethereal Plane is to the Material Plane. Meaning that they appear to be like each other in many ways yet something is usually different as the laws of physics do not apply to all planes of existence in the same way.

 

Planar Mappings

The Material Plane is surrounded by the Ethereal Plane in a highly parallel fashion.

 

The Spirit World acts as a conduit from the Material Plane to the Plane of Death when mortals fall.

 

The Ethereal Plane is connected to the Celestial Plane in a metaphysical and unparalleled fashion.

 

The Celestial Plane is the psychic entry way to a group of highly unparalleled planes, called the Metaphysical Planes that have no physical boundries, they are instead made up of celestial dream like material of pure thought and psychic power.
