Harper Agent

History of The Tandri Colaes – The Mage Killers (Harper Agent class)

During the rise of man, as each of the races began its bid to learn the secrets of the arcane, the Elves tried their best to teach or to suppress the knowledge where they saw fit. However, in the end they could not prevent the other races from quickly learning many magical secrets.

Some Elves actually did not mind the rate at which the other races learned and some Elves even contributed knowledge to these races. It was believed that once the other races held as much power as the Elves, they could live in equality under a new age of learning and peace. However, most Elves saw it as a blight, a threat to the natural order, or an abomination of their proud art.

The Elves refused to conduct open warfare with the other races and by the time they felt it really needed to stop, it was far too late. The other races had grown strong and war would approach quickly to those who tried to stop them. So the Elves began by secretly sowing distrust between any races, countries, or cities that gained too much arcane knowledge. This kept them busy for a long time and kept them from turning on the Elves.

Eventually, things got worse. The races of the world began to learn magic quicker than ever as they progressed so the Elves sought to secretly remove people who they deemed had learned too much. This is how the Tandri Colaes was first formed. They were an elite group of hunters that trained for the single purpose of killing mages. Their teachings were simple enough, by using nature’s power instead of arcane power they were harder to detect by the enemy. It was the vast resources that made this group truly deadly. Since the Tandri Colaes served the interests of Elf society, many rich households gave them large funds so they could purchase a variety of anti mage training, weaponry and tools.

Many centuries went by and for a while, the Tandri Colaes operated on a large scale. They would slay many notable people, people who could have helped their own race greatly, given time. However, time was something that was deemed too dangerous and in the name of sacred magic, these great leaders were tragically slain before they could mature into greatness.

As more time went by, it became clear that stopping the growth of humanities magical knowledge was impossible. The lethal assassins of the Tandri Colaes would only end up causing a war of all races against the Elves. As protectors of the world, the Elves were finding themselves in a difficult position. Therefore, much of the Tandri Colaes was disbanded, and only a few were left to carry on the quest. This proved to be a large mistake as the Human Arch-Mage King, Amantep, was quickly rising in power during this time period.

During that fateful day of the Armageddon spell, the Tandri Colaes was changed forever.

Before the destruction of Amatep’s Armageddon spell, many of the Tandri Colaes were bloated, lazy, complaining and never actually acting on the mages of the world. Their activity had ground to a halt for many years and the group was nearly forsaken entirely by the elves due to their questionable methods of assassination. However, once the impossible Armageddon spell was cast by what was once a mortal man, they sat up shocked and amazed. The last remaining Tandri Colaes came to a quick conclusion that their ancestors were only half right.

The remaining Tandri Colaes felt that they had not gone far enough in the past. Merely trying to suppress arcane knowledge in a few races did not work. Amanteps power had clearly shown that arcane knowledge was far too dangerous to be allowed at all.

The Tandri Colaes have been biding their time for centuries now after the fall. Gathering what knowledge they can, building the equipment they will need, and recruiting what members they can, they now lie in wait for their chance. No longer driven by the petty jealousy of the Elves, they are now driven by justice for a scorched world…

And in order for the world to be truly safe, all arcane knowledge must be destroyed forever.

Tandri Colaes Operations Today

The new Tandri Colaes is vastly different from its old version; they now freely recruit anyone of any race. While stealth skills are preferred the Tandri Colaes have tasks for anyone. The Tandri Colaes now teach new apprentices how to harness nature’s power of protection, and how to focus their minds to gather large amounts of knowledge (The Harper Agent Class).

Tandri Colaes

The only restriction they have is that once you join you can not study any arcane arts. There is only one exception to this rule, and that is for spies. Should a spy need to infiltrate a building or a group of mages they are allowed to study magic so that they can gain trust with the enemy. However, only the most trusted spies are allowed to do this.
