Halfling

Halfling
There really aren't many social differences between halflings anymore, what few of them that have survived are holding out together in their secret Overbrook Shire.

Over the years many halflings have left their village, but there is no telling what could have happened to them out there. This is intended to leave flexibility for nearly any storyline or background that players may come up with. Players that choose a Halfing do not need to be from the Secret Halfling Shire, perhaps they were raised by humans as an orphan.

The halflings gather in small gangs and there is no true leader of them all, yet...

Halfings share everything in a totally communal society. The concept of stealing does not exist amongst halflings, and they will take nearly anything as they see fit, whenever they want to. Stealing replaces all societal norms concerning merchants in Overbrook, gold is worth nothing and the good items come to those with a good slight of hand. Make no mistake about it, the halflings have at least one of everything in Overbrook. In an area with this many theives, the number of items per capita goes up dramaticly in number and rarity. Overbrook is actually quite the gold mine, for those that know what gold is good for! This is why halflings are commonly drawn to levels of Rogue. Money, bills and debt are words that do not really exist in the Halfing language and it can be very hard for some halflings to understand these concepts at all. Halflings are also responsible for their own form of magic, Arcane Trickery, which further irritates many inhabitants of the world.

Combine all that with their size and we have a highly mis-understood bunch of creatures, who often fall victim to common racism and stereotyping.
